  • Simple, effective, and functional movements.

This one-day course will give you the essential knowledge to improve your situational awareness, verbal skills and equip you with simple & practical self-defense.

Created by Coach Tony Blauer, a pioneer of modern self-defense, the SPEAR program is based on human physiology and natural biomechanics. It uses the body’s startle-flinch response, a part of our human survival reflex, as the catalyst for all protective movement.

Tactical Defense was started due to the lack of knowledge and realistic training in today’s self defense and martial arts schools. The foundation of our personal safety program is based on Blauer Tactical’s SPEAR Defense System and what the body will do prior to any training; making it the fastest, most natural way to move the human body.

We are proud to be an authorized affiliate of his system.

The SPEAR Defense System is based on an 80,000-year-old genetic survival response that helped keep our ancestors alive. The reptilian brain wants you to survive. Its initial response is to protect the head and move you away from danger. We have sharpened this movement. Be the tip of the spear. Because in your fight, you’re on point.

Led by Blauer Tactical Systems Certified SPEAR Defense Coaches, Dan Miller and Mike Collier, the Tactical Defense training program is a reality-based self-defense system, effective at preparing you for the real world. It’s easy to learn regardless of your previous experience.

We currently offer a number of options for your training, as follows:

  3. Schedule 1-1 training sessions with our coaches

Each workshop will cover self-defense techniques including: situational awareness, striking, blocking, escapes, weapons defense, ground defense, and real life scenario training. 

Unlike most self-defense systems that rely on strength, speed, and coordination, the techniques in the Tactical Defense workshop build upon the functional movements you’re already performing in your daily life. You’ll learn how to employ body position, technique, and timing, so regardless of age, size or athletic ability, you can make them work against an attacker.

You will learn about the 3-Ds - Detect (through Situational Awareness). Defuse (through Non-Violent Postures and Choice Speech). Defend (by deploying the SPEAR system, your pre-wired physiological response to an aggressive stimulus).

HOW THE WORKSHOP WORKS

Each Workshop session is broken into several segments focusing on the psychology and motivation of attackers, primal responses to threatening situations, stances, strikes, blocks, and self-defense skills, and then application of those skills in real life scenarios.

The Workshop will seamlessly mix segments of lecture, introducing Personal Defense concepts, and dynamic situational work with a partner.
